Daft Punk vs. The KLF

This photo reminds me of The KLF somehow... You reckon, anyone yeah?

Bueno, digamos que tras ser nominados como mejor banda británica por los BRIT Awards en 1992, los británicos fueron invitados a presentarse durante la entrega de tales premios, y luego de haber intentado fallidamente con los directivos de la premiación, de algún modo los líderes de The KLF, Bill Drummond y Jimmy Cauty , finalmente consiguieron persuadir a la organización del evento a dejarlos presentarse en vivo junto con la legendaria banda de hardcore (y proto-grindcore) Extreme Noise Terror como grupo invitado. Pero la historia no acaba ahí, sino cuando al concluir su presentación apuntaron unas metralletas hacia la audiencia (la canción original "3 AM Eternal" concluía de tal modo, pero después de esta experiencia fue censurada) , y así, sin más, entre que unos honorables asistentes intentaban huir de la sala y otros permanecían en shock, al sonar el último de los "balazos" sólo se escuchó al micrófono decir:

"The KLF have now left the music business."

Y así fue su despedida oficial de la industria musical, que es igual de grande y venerada como muchas de sus otras travesías, como molestar hasta el hastío a los mamones de ABBA, por ejemplo. But you can read aaaaall about that here and here.



Hey I'm not trying to act cool, I'm not even old enough to know this really. But doesn't the pyramid even ring you a bell at all? I'm such a fan of this story, you know? Todo esto es muy decepcionante de verdad, porque pensé que los franceses harían algo por el estilo un día de estos, pero no hacen sino todo lo contrario desde hace años.

I really, really wish deep at heart that in the end, all of this hype were just a really funny joke that we all enjoyed and will remain in all of our hearts. But THEN... suddenly, these two old British dudes pop-out of 'em robots and:

But fuck it. I'll just stick to the videos. Those were the days...

Yeah Kanye, you proved the world you're way cooler than Sean and Fiddy, but why the fuck did you have to screw with Daft Punk? I hate you for that and for Murakami too.
