Heartbeeps

And what have we here now? C’est quoi Heartbeeps?

Meet our newest buddy from Poni Republic, we already introduced you to Bufi and Nuuro (again) this spring, y ahora, les presentamos a Heartbeeps a modo de premiere.

Heartbeeps is Craig Nunn from Leeds, constant traveler and creator of what he calls “instants songs”. That’s why this EP lasts less than 10 minutes, and each song no more than two. It’s amazing what one man can do with his memories, the way he manifests his deepest emotions; the glimpse of a young boy with a profound desire to make honest songs (mistakes included) and “a true record” in this world where hours are spent on postproduction.

The four songs were made during December 2007 and January of this year, no wonder why listening to Canton reminds me of Winter, dead leaves, green grass, and makes me want to put on my “Hat & Gloves & Scarf” and go out and walk through “Glacial Valleys” after taking an overnight train (“Kuszetka” in Polish) and seeing how the “Light Leaks” through a frozen window while singing it was where we wanted to be…

Just so you all know, everything was recorded on one take, all lyrics were improvised, and each track was written and recorded in less than an hour. Whoever’s fond of lo-fi and sweet-happy-melancholic songs that you can play over and over without getting tired of them, download Canton now!

Escuchar a En Ventura es como encender una luz de bengala y bailar al son de las chispitas que su pop psicodélico emana para todos nosotros. Este cuarteto oriundo de Monterrey, preparó su primer EP homónimo con dulces ingredientes tales como el folk, noise, rock, y por momentos hasta shoegaze.

Aunque chistosirijillo, el sonido de los regios En Ventura, es pura vanguardia campirana, de esa lúdica a lo gonzo, ya saben... de linaje cósmico, altamente recomendable para los que gustan de esos viajes con fines místicos al desierto.

Ya dicho esto, Bufi es el nuevo spoiled lil' brat mexicano de la blogosfera, y si no lo creen aún, pregúntenle a BigStereo. Pero no sólo eso, como ya es mala costumbre en México, una vez que el mundo voltea hacia nuestros paisanos, es cuando muchos aceptamos que "debe estar bueno".

Porque unos están por salir de Semana Santa y otros de plano ya están fuera echando galleta y funk, decidimos adelantarles un pequeño-GRAN-teaser de nuestro siguiente paso como webzine.

TTSO y Poni Republic siempre han estado vinculados de un modo u otro, desde niños ambos sites han sido como 'amigovios', pero este año TTSO tomó las riendas instead y repercutió más que nunca sobre el nuevo sonido y camino que le depara al estimable sello mexicano compuesto por artistas de todo el mundo.

So yeah, we pretty much have our own label now, if you must: we affiliated with Poni Republic and by the time Semana Santa is over, their whole catalogue along with OUR new releases will be integrated as a feature section in TTSO and it will be completely downloadable for FREE. My First Harakiri Night (Monday Bloody Monday)

Anoche fue mi primer Harakiri Night: Whoa qué divertido... Encontrarse a los nuevos kids on the block en los revens es lo que más me motiva de seguir saliendo en el DF. I'm so fucking sick of the party-goers... Y aunque no había entrañas regadas por el piso, ni samuráis, takas, ni nada por el estilo, sí que vendían unas playeras alucinantes y regalaban montones de sake (chafísima) a quien pidiera, motivo por el que sigo crudo, y me quedara dormido esta mañana en vez de salir corriendo a la oficina. Además, estuvieron los Thieves Like Us y Punks Jump Up, so WTF.

Ya terminó febrero, y como podrán darse cuenta, TTSO tiene nuevos planes y amigos. Para empezar, este marzo Poni Republic se integrará al contenido de TTSO formalmente, and that's really something. A webzine with its own netlabel? WOW. And just you wait until we hook up them radio shows! Pero esa es otra historia pendiente (Yes we’re building a virtual radiostation on-demand, so if you have a show that you wish to re-broadcast through our website, CONTACT US NOW!).




El punto es que anoche me encontré a Mateo de LeTouch, mi MP3-Blog favorito del DF, y a Diego de Synthetic Rocks!, mi promotor consentido del DF. Two guys you better set your eyes on, 'cause they're not only blogging, they're keeping it real, unlike very, very few people nowadays.

Así que mientras hablamos de buena gente and the new good times, ¿por qué no escuchamos también música nueva? Este es mi nuevo buen amigo Mateo, pero under the a.k.a. of Bufi.

I got this email during a pretty tough day earlier this month, I hope this letter and song save your day just the way they did mine. I love these two kids.

Cómo estás, TTSO? Espero que todo cul.

Te escribo por lo siguiente: a finales del año pasado mi mejor amiga y yo decidimos armar un mini proyecto, en una onda medio bedroom pop con alguito de folk, muy cute.

En diciembre, mi amiga se fue a vivir a México (es Loocila en Myspace), pero antes nos pusimos a grabar un EP de 4 temas como una suerte de documentación de sus últimos días acá en Caracas. Y bueno, se me ocurrió mandártelo a ver si te parece buen material para un futuro release de Poni Republic, me parece que cuadraría dentro del catálogo. Call it an unsolicited demo =)

Te mando un premix del EP, todavía le faltan detalles. Tiene 4 temas, incluyendo un cover de una canción de The Breeders y una colaboración con Clément (joiejoiejoie) que todavía está en progreso. Además te mando una foto promo para que vaciles jajaja =) La grabación es sencilla, incluso se escuchan sonidos de ambulancias, ladridos de perros, cosas así que le dan como atmósfera al asunto.

Y pues nada, espero que te guste, o por lo menos saber tu opinión a ver qué tal.
